Why Move to Plymouth
The city of Plymouth is located on the western slope of the Sierra Nevada, at the lower elevations of flat to gently rolling territory. Plymouth is well known as the site of the Amador County Fair which was started in 1938 . The annual event is typically held on the third full weekend of August. Plymouth is also home to the California State Mining and Mineral Museum which celebrates Plymouth as “The Mother Lode’s Golden City.”
The History
Plymouth was first settled in 1849 by a man named Levi Ruggles, and it soon became a popular spot for gold miners thanks to its close proximity to the mother lode. The city was officially incorporated in 1854, and it has been a thriving community ever since.
